Hello, I am a computer programmer and I am trying to help my friend with a problem that he is having with a UDA product that he uses for his construction business. I don’t have the product readily available (or other access) right at this moment so I can’t tell you exactly what the name of the product is. But I think a knowledgeable person will recognize it. The product is the 2004 version and it allows a General Contactor to generate proposals, invoices, etc.
He is having a problem with many (or all) of the features of the program which use Microsoft Word to create documents for him. I expect the problem he is encountering is well known. When he clicks in the UDA program for a particular task, it launches MS Word, but right when it starts there is an error. A dialog box is displayed that says “Microsoft Visual Basic” in the title bar and the text in the dialog box says “Compile error in hidden module: ThisDocument”. I assume that is being generated because of an error running a macro in the document. I cannot see the code however because it is password protected. It is a problem with a macro within the document or perhaps some external Word macro that is being called from there? I can easily see how it could simply be an error in the VB code in the macro but I’m not sure how that would into all of his documents at once. So it seems like it must be something else. Would someone be able to tell me how to correct the problem or some clues about it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bob |

Hi Bob,
While support has expired for all of our 2004 products, I'll try to point you in the right direction. First off, what operating system is he using? The 2004 versions are not compatible with Windows Vista or with 64 bit operating systems and can exhibit a similar behavior when installed in these environments. If that's not the case, one of the refernce dlls the built in code uses is missing. You can try reinstalling MS Office and then reinstalling UDA. This should correct the issue. You might want to consider an upgrade to one of our newer, supported versions. They offer quite a few new features and support for the latest office and windows versions.

Thanks for your quick response.
He is using Windows XP, 32 bit. UDA had been working fine for a long time. This error just started occurring and he wasn't aware of anything that had been changed on the machine. We will try the reinstalls that you suggested. We would like to backup all of his data first though, is it all located under a single folder or would there be multiple folders that we will have to locate? Bob |

For the 2004 Version, all data is stored in C:\Program Files\UDA Office.
