Default Using the Costbook CSV format to import the HomeTech Cost Database

Hi, newy user here...
I sat in on the Estimating webinar yesterday, saw that there are stock databases (Craftsman & RSMeans) also saw the option to add costbook (looks like you have to start from scratch, bricks & sticks...).
Our company uses Home Tech's estimating software and has created many custom itmes over the years. Can this data be imported from Home Tech with out having to recreate each item?
Thanks, Brian

We do include the option to import a costbook from a CSV (comma seperated value) file. These can be created and edited in excel. You can find more on this in the following thread:

Now where do I find the option to "import from CSV"?

That sounds easy enough, but... (We're running Version 5.4.0.0 rel. 2092)
In the Items database, under the tools menue, my options are:
- Duplicate Costbook
- Set Lowest Quote as Default
- Import Items from QuickBooks
- Options
Please clarify which option to select to "import from CSV"

Are you accessing the Items Database from the main interface or from within estimating?

Sorry for the confusion. In the 2010 version, the option shows in either location. In the 2009 version it shows only when the items database is opened from an estimate.

To import a costbook csv file into ConstructionSuite 2009.

1. Create and save the file.
2. Open UDA.
3. Open an Estimate.
4. Click the items database button to open it.
5. Select Tools -> "import costbook csv".
6. Browse for the file.
7. Click ok.

If you have any trouble, let me know.
